Real-Life Communication

When it comes to a fire, every second counts, especially if someone might be trapped inside a burning building. Being able to communicate quickly and accurately can save a life.

Imagine you are a firefighter captain on the first truck to arrive at an apartment building that is burning fast. Smoke is pouring out the windows and a few dazed residents are gathered on the sidewalk.

One is screaming that there may be someone inside. After quickly directing your crew to hook up a hose and prepare to enter the building, you seek more information on where the stranded person might be.

The problem is that the woman you want to talk to does not speak English. You immediately radio back to headquarters for help, but in the meantime you have to find out where to search for the person still trapped in the building.

You've got no time to waste. How do you communicate with the woman?
