Real-Life Decision Making

You're organizing a conference in a small town. It's about 200 miles from the city where your office is. It's about 2 p.m. and you're there with the client, preparing things for the evening. The client says, "So when's the bagpiper showing up?"

Bagpiper?

There wasn't anything about a bagpiper in the contract! There aren't even any bagpipers in this town, at least none that you know about.

You never let your clients see you sweat, but you think to yourself, "What am I going to do?" You could pull out the contract, go over it with the client and point out that there was no piper mentioned. Your client probably just forgot, that's all. Perhaps they would be happy with taped music.

On the other hand, you could just say, "Oh, we're taking care of it. Yeah, that's it," and see what you can drum up.

The office -- and any bagpipe contacts you might have -- is a three-hour drive away. Still, you do have a few hours. You never know what you might come up with. How are you going to handle this?
