Real-Life Communication

You breed fine horses on your farm. Over a period of 20 years, you've built a reputation for top-quality animals.

One of your stallions, Strider, is a particularly fine horse. You've won a number of awards at shows with him.

One day, a family visits your farm. They have a mare they want to breed with Strider or one of your other 14 stallions. Their mare is old. Also, your discerning eye immediately sees the mare is of poor breeding. The foals the two would produce would be of poor quality -- way below your standards of excellence.

You need to tactfully explain this to the family. They love their mare, and they're eager to have her bred.

Write down what you'll tell the family. Be creative in coming up with a solution. Also, protect their feelings if you can.
