Real-Life Decision Making

One of the ponies on your farm has started limping. You have him checked by a veterinarian. He has a stifle problem with a back leg. The stifle is similar to the knee of a human.

The stifle problem can't be fixed. It's causing your pony a lot of pain. He's only 25 years old -- he has many years left in him. Many ponies live to almost 50.

You could have painkillers prescribed for him. They'll dull the pain, but cause stomach ulcers.

What do you do?
