You are a garbage collector working for the City. As a City worker, you always have the eyes of the public on you.

The City is about to change over from non-automated to automated trucks. This will change the way the residents of the community must put out their garbage.

A representative of City Hall has asked you to attend a public meeting to kick off their awareness campaign. Your role is to help teach the community members about what they need to do with the new garbage bins in order to make the automated system a success.

Members of the community will need to know how and where to place their garbage bins for automated pick-up. The City has asked you to do a demonstration of how the truck works and talk about how the bins must be placed and why.

Here are the details:

  • The automated truck has a mechanical arm
  • The arm picks up the bins
  • The arm can only pick up the specially designed bins
  • The City has given every residence one bin
  • The bins must be at the curb or at the edge of the street in front of the house
  • The handle of the bin must face the house
  • The bin needs to have four feet of clearance all the way around it
  • One person can collect all the bins
  • The old system used one driver and two laborers
  • The automated system is safer for workers
  • There are fewer back injuries with automated systems
