Real-Life Decision Making

You are a zoologist working with an ecological team studying a protected marshland. At the marsh, you study invertebrates such as insects. It is important to know about the insects living in the water because they have an effect on the ecological make-up of the marsh.

The type of insects there helps determines what fish and amphibians live in the marsh, and their numbers.

The ecological team is meeting next week to update everyone on each other's findings. You are only partway through your experiments, and will have to hurry to get finished.

As you work, you realize that you need to collect a few samples of insects from the marsh. It is a distant drive from your office. The collection will also take time.

Instead of collecting new samples, you could use insect samples left over from an experiment you did last year. That way you would have time to finish your experiment.

What do you do?
