Additional Information

Employment as a scout usually requires completion of high school and a bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, or kinesiology, in addition to several years of experience in a particular sport. However, some sports scouts learn the career by working under an experienced sports scout.

"Sports management is the primary educational training. However, we can train scouts to do exactly what we do," says scout Bryan Shumock.
