Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You alert others about Kyle's intended actions.

This is the real-life decision that Christian counselor Nancy Thompson would make.

She says that if you're unsure about whether a client really intends to injure another, it's best to play it safe.

"If it's a case of safety or protecting the well-being of others, you have to err on the side of caution," she says.

In this case, you decide to alert the parents and the school principal of problems and potential conflicts that are occurring at the school. If a client also insisted that he wanted to injure himself as well, extreme measures might have to be taken.

"This job can mean deciding if you have to hospitalize someone, or if you have to alert others," says Thompson.
