Real-Life Decision Making

Your theater is currently running a play called Circus Acts. It is about the life of a young woman in the circus. It is a fast-paced show, with the actors performing many leaps, cartwheels and other stunts.

As the stage manager, you have successfully brought the play from readings and rehearsals to the stage. Tonight, you watch from the side, prompting actors to get to the side of the stage and making sure everything is running as planned.

Suddenly, about halfway through the play, the main character, Susan, who is supposed to swoop across the stage on a trapeze, slips and falls. You watch in horror as she falls and then gets up, obviously in pain. She improvises some lines until she can get off the stage.

The audience has no idea that the fall was an accident and not part of the play. When Susan comes off, you immediately give her first aid. She feels dizzy from striking her head and her arm hurts terribly. But she wants you to bandage it up so she can finish her part.

The arm may be broken. You are worried she may have suffered other injuries from the fall.

What do you do?
