Real-Life Math -- Solution

You need to figure out which store will give you the best deal on the supplies you need.

Big Art

Cardstock paper: $0.10 x 100 = $10

Total: $10 + $4.99 + $3.99 + $14.49 + $1.39 + $1.79 + $5.99 = $42.64

Killer Queen

Cardstock paper: $0.11 x 100 = $11

Total: $11 + $5.49 + $4.79 + $12.99 + $0.99 + $1.49 + $5.79 = $42.54

A dime saved is a dime earned. "Math doesn't figure in huge in the actual drawing of a picture, being a cartoonist," says Clay Jones, an editorial cartoonist from Mississippi. "If you have to cover the cost of your own supplies, though, you certainly need the math to get you through."
