Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You sell the vegetables as organically grown.

You are paid the high price that you require if you are to make a profit. However, in a random inspection it is discovered that the water is contaminated with traces of gasoline. You lose your right to mark your produce with the organically grown label. This means a huge loss of income for your business since you are no longer able to sell at the higher prices.

Marine botanist Louis Druehl says in this situation, the right decision is clear. "There is only one thing to do. You destroy the crop," says Druehl. "I would never sell contaminated food from my sea vegetable business."
