Real-Life Math

You own a salon, and you've decided to put your artistic talents to work. After a workshop on nail art, you are inspired to offer it to your customers. You practice until you feel confident.

You've learned to charge according to the complexity of the design and how long it takes you to do 1 nail.

Here is your price list:

  • Wedding nails (hearts and ribbons) -- $10 per nail
  • Roses -- $5 per nail
  • Stars and moons -- $3 per nail

It takes you 30 minutes to finish 1 wedding nail, 15 minutes for 1 rose nail, and 10 minutes for 1 stars and moon nail.

One day, a customer comes in and has only her index fingers done in the wedding design. That same day, you also paint rose designs on 5 nails and complete a whole set of stars and moons.

How much money did you make from nail art that day, and what is the total amount of time you spent?
