Real-Life Communication -- Solution

This is what your grant proposal might look like:

Grant Application Form for Professional Research

Goals:

Pigs are not gaining enough weight at the appropriate time for the market. If this trend continues, it will be economically devastating. My research will try to determine what is causing the pigs to lose weight. With this knowledge, pig farming will regain its stability.

My goal for these experiments is to see what could be causing the weight loss. I will refer to the behavior of pigs in the wild and in captivity. I will compare the circumstances of pigs in the wild to those in captivity.

Methods:

I will look at the psychological behavior and physiological make-up of pigs. For example, I will look at how pigs are reacting in the wild and in captivity. I will see if one pig is prone to bullying, thus hogging all the feed and leaving the weaker ones with the scraps. I will try to see if the pigs are having trouble digesting the feed, thereby not receiving the appropriate nutrients to gain weight.

The solution to this problem might not be obvious when looking at the animals, so I might have to take biopsies of tissues and do blood tests.
