Real-Life Math

Farm labor not only involves physical work, but mental work, too. From figuring out the amount of medicine to give livestock, to determining the amount of fertilizer to spray on a field, farm laborers have to have a good command of basic math. If they make a mistake in their calculations, livestock can die or crops can be ruined.

Farm laborers often have to do things like figure out how much medicine to give cattle. If you were a farm laborer and had to determine how much medicine to give a cow, how would you determine the correct amount of antibiotics, in ounces, to give a 500-pound cow?

You'll need to give 2 cubic centimeters (cc) for every 100 pounds of cow. In addition, the antibiotics bottle specifies "1 cc = 0.0002 ounces". How would you make sure that the cow did not receive an overdose of the antibiotic?
