Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You stand still.

Meter reader Mark Willis didn't run. "I stood stock-still for about five minutes, although it felt like five hours. Then the dog turned and padded off, never to bother me again."

Running from danger may be a natural instinct. But in the case of a growling, nervous or unfamiliar dog, running could signal it to chase, attack and bite you. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advise people to remain motionless when faced with a strange dog. Never run or scream.
