Real-Life Decision Making

You have been working for several weeks researching the historical background of an ancient Greek play. It is an obscure play. Although you have looked around, you haven't been able to find any other theaters that have put on the production.

After much work, you get a revised script together for the director, and the rehearsal of the play begins. The director is pleased with your suggestions. The actors memorize their lines. Designers build sets and create costumes.

It is just four days before the play is set to open. You go to watch one of the final rehearsals. As you watch the play, you are struck with an idea. What if you reversed the first and second scenes? With some minor script revisions, you think the play could be much more effective.

You discuss the idea with the director. He sees potential in the idea, but says that it would be too disruptive. The actors would be unhappy to have to learn new lines, and the set workers and lighting technicians would have to work overtime to learn the new set-up.

What do you do?
