While a drug and alcohol counselor's prime concern is seeing that all who come through the front door get the help they so desperately need, the job can involve other things. Sometimes there's paperwork to be done.

The National Drug Institute is doing a survey on drug abuse. They've asked you to prepare a statistical profile on Happy Place, the drug rehab facility you've headed for 10 years.

You are to prepare a report in which you take into account all cases in your facility in the last year and express each drug category as a percentage of the total cases.

"Math is a valuable skill in addictions counseling, as it helps the counselor explain to people the various drug interactions," says Linda James, a drug and alcohol counselor. "The considerations can go from psychological effects to the use of numbers, which is really the quantitative side of the job."

Here are the numbers you have to work with:

Drug CategoryCases
Barbiturates20
Cocaine62
Heroin31
Morphine9
Glue4
Marijuana23
Opium1
Hashish19

You must express each drug category as a percentage of your overall caseload by dividing each category total into the total number of cases.
