Real-Life Math -- Solution

First, you need to figure out how much class time is left after your warm-up and cool-down stretches.

60 minutes - 5 minutes warm-up - 5 minutes cool-down = 50 minutes

With 50 minutes left, you can figure out the actual time value of each activity during the class.

High impact

50 percent, so, 50 minutes x (0.5) = 25 minutes

Low impact

30 percent, so, 50 minutes x (0.3) = 15 minutes

Step choreography

10 percent, so, 50 minutes x (0.1) = 5 minutes

Yoga

10 percent, so, 50 minutes x (0.1) = 5 minutes

To double-check our math, let's see if the total schedule is within the 1 hour, or 60 minutes, of allowable time:

Warm-up stretch5 minutes
High impact25
Low impact15
Step choreography5
Yoga5
Cool-down stretch5 minutes
