Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You don't use the raytracing.

You decide that the raytracing will take too much time. Because this is a new project, you want to have it completed when required. You could ask for an extension, but you feel that would be unwise for the first project. At the end of the day, you want to produce the best quality product possible in the time available. It would probably have been best to check with the client that the deadline was firm. It also would have been wise to explain to the client exactly what they're giving up if you only have a week to complete the project.

"What I've found, in my time and my experience, is [it's best] to be honest with the client," says 3D renderer and designer Chris Kowal.

"I would prioritize and get signoff from the client on what they think is going to happen, or what they want to see that's the most important."
