Real-Life Math -- Solution

You want to know how long you need to schedule the photo studio for.

Shooting time = 13 shots x 15 minutes per shot
Shooting time = 195 minutes

Setup time = 120 minutes (initial setup) + (12 changes x 20 minutes per change)
Setup time = 120 + 240
Setup time = 360 minutes

Total = 195 + 360
Total = 555 minutes

But what is that in hours?

Hours = 555 minutes / 60 minutes per hour
Hours = 9.25

You will need 9.25 hours for the photo shoot.

"Math is about logic, not just numbers," says Stephen Ang, a photostylist and teacher. You should know "how to make logical and rational decisions based on the information presented to you. Also, [math] is used in working with professional and personal budgets, negotiating, [and] personal investments," he says.
