Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You do the tests anyway.

A radiation machine is very sensitive. One or two degrees out of alignment can have very serious consequences for a patient.

"If it's showing any symptoms that will affect the dose calibration, then the machine is shut down and not used for service," says medical physicist Jerry Battista.

"You're not going to fly an aircraft with faulty engines. There are a lot of people that are going to be hurt. We go through one patient every 15 minutes. That amounts to several aircrafts of people."
