"To work in training, you have to understand business, and to understand business, you have to understand numbers," says Richard Battaglia of the International Society of Performance Improvement. "If you don't understand an organization's finanical situations, data and that sort of thing, you won't be able to analyze its problems and come up with appropriate solutions."

Training managers have to be experts at managing not only numbers, people and resources, but also time. While most companies understand the value of training employees, they are eager to keep disruption of regular work time to a minimum.

That means that training managers have to make sure that training is efficient and effective.

You are a training manager at a company with 495 professional and administrative employees. All of them need to go through 8 hours of training on a new computer system.

You've already decided to do the training in 4 separate 2-hour sessions. This will allow employees to still get some work done on the days that they train. You also know from experience that computer classes should have no more than 15 people in them to be effective.

How many sessions will you have to schedule in order to give all employees the needed 8 hours of training?

You hold 3 sessions per weekday (leaving time for the trainers to have lunch and set up for each class). How many weeks will it take to complete the training?
