Real-Life Communication -- Solution

You are going to learn to drive the loader today. But first you have to learn to start the machine. These are the answers that the supervisor might have given to your questions:

1.  What should I be looking for when I do a general inspection of the machine?

Look for torn or frayed hydraulic hoses. Also, check for branches stuck under your machine.

2.  When I climb up in the cab what must I do before I turn the key? Why?

Before you turn the key, you must hold down the glow plug for one minute. This is important because heat is needed before the diesel fuel will ignite.

3.  What gear should I be in while on the landing?

You should either be in first or second gear -- never go past second gear on the landing.
