Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You pass on the photo.

You decide to play it safe and not film the child, despite the fact that you have no intention of making this documentary look sensationalistic.

You move on, looking for other subjects to film, but you're haunted by the image of this boy. For three days, you think of nothing else but this child and how his image sums up all you're trying to express in this film.

You decide to try and find him and spend countless hours roaming around the area where you saw him, hoping to see him again. But you have no luck. You continue with the documentary, knowing you should have taken a chance and at least spoken to the child. You can't help but imagine how powerful his presence would have been in the film.

"If you hesitate and are uncertain, you can miss footage that is key to the piece," says documentary producer Christine Venegas. "If it's something unexpected, you must decide on the spot how to handle it."
