Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You cast Ann as Abby.

You should never cast friends just because they're friends. It's unprofessional, and even unethical. You know in your mind that Libby was the clear choice.

The media certainly didn't support your choice. A noted New York theater critic referred to Ann as "that silly, unpolished amateur." Another critic said your friend "runs down an otherwise smart production."

Next time, go with the actor. Friends are friends and business is business. Don't mix the two up.

"Always do what's best in the grand scheme," says stage director Kasper Holten. "It's no good to let your feelings get in the way of making a correct and proper decision. In matters of casting, it is good to go with your gut feeling. Whoever is best for a role should be the one who gets the role in the end."
