Real-Life Communication -- Solution

A workshop is no good if only a few people show up, so some marketing needs to be done first. Try getting their attention by writing something like this:

"Did you know that 55 percent of the population has no financial plan for retirement? Even if you have a plan, are you sure you're doing enough?

"Find out how you're doing by attending a workshop on retirement planning hosted by a professional financial planner with over 20 years of experience in the field.

"Learn about mutual funds, RRSPs, insurance plans and other financial options in this helpful six-hour session. There's even a special section on getting your current financial house in order.

"This $95 session runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and lunch is included.

"Make the years before your retirement really count by finding out more about planning for your financial future."

It should come as no surprise that public speakers need great communication skills. "That's our whole business," says Patricia Katz.

"Succeeding takes being able to wrap a vital, practical message with an enticing array of stories," agrees Terry Paulson.
