Real-Life Math

You are taking your licensing course to become a manufactured building and mobile home installer. You expect you will have to know something about trigonometry and calculus. However, the instructor tells you that it is more important to understand basic mathematics. You will have to read charts and understand what those charts are telling you.

Here is the first question on the test: "The load-bearing capacity of soil is 2,000 pounds. That means that every square foot can hold 2,000 pounds without sinking."

Your load is exactly 2,000 pounds. How many square feet will you have to cover to make it work? How many square feet would you need to cover if your load is 4,000 pounds?
