Ski Instructor

Real-Life Activities

Real-Life Communication

You are instructing a beginner's class of eight students. One of the students in the class obviously has more skiing experience than the other students, and she's not letting anyone forget it.

Every time you bring up a simple concept in your instruction, she laughs out loud and says sarcastic things about this being a tough class. She's constantly breaking your concentration and chipping away at the confidence of the other skiers.

You've had enough of this student, but since she's paid her fee you can't just kick her out. You decide you're going to have to talk to her after class.

What would you say to this student to get her to change her behavior? Remember, you still want to maintain a friendly relationship -- she's a customer and you can't ream her out.
