How much does college cost?

College costs vary widely based on the type of school you attend. Types of costs you should consider are:

Below are examples of average estimated national undergraduate budgets for 2016-17:

  • Public two-year in-district: $3,570 tuition and fees; $8,400 Room and Board;
  • Public four-year in-state on-campus $9,970 tuition and fees; $10,800 Room and Board;
  • Public four-year out-of-state on-campus: $25,620 tuition and fees; $10,800 Room and Board;
  • Private nonprofit four-year on-campus: $34,740 tuition and fees; $12,210 Room and Board;
