Real-Life Communication

You have received a letter from a gallery interested in commissioning (ordering) a piece of your work. The gallery has asked you to describe the piece you would submit.

You have something in mind. You want to be sure the gallery will accept the piece, so you'll really have to do a good job of selling yourself.

Here's what you're thinking of:

  • Interactive piece -- worn like a kimono, or hung on a wall
  • Format -- soft sculpture
  • Materials -- silk, metal fibers, beads, colored glass
  • Subject -- women dancing

Write a short description of this piece, based on these rough notes. Remember, what you write can make the difference between the gallery buying your piece or rejecting it.
