Real-Life Communication -- Solution

You have spoken with Violet's father and learned a bit about the patient. You took notes and later read them over to answer some questions you have about the young girl. Here are your answers:

  1. Will Violet need lots of stimulation so she won't become bored?

Violet loves to be active, to be outdoors. She will need lots of stimulation so that she won't become bored in a hospital environment.

  2. Will Violet want to know about her procedure in detail? Why?

Violet likes to learn and likes to have things explained in detail. She will probably want to know all about the procedure that will be performed on her.

  3. What makes you think Violet doesn't want to be in a ward with others?

Mr. Priam has said that Violet doesn't get along well with others, and doesn't want to be around sick children.

  4. Do you think Violet has come to terms with her illness?

Mr. Priam worries that she hasn't come to terms with her illness because she doesn't see herself as sick.
