Real-Life Math -- Solution

In order to find the mass of the meteorite, you'll have to divide the weight of the meteorite by 9.087 -- the equivalent of 1 kilogram in newtons.

F = mg
m = F / g
m = 320 / 9.087
m = 35.21 kg

The mass of the meteorite equals 35.21 kilograms.

Geophysicists use a lot of physics and computer science in their jobs. The foundation of these subjects? Math. How to get all this knowledge? Start in school.

"The more mathematics you can take, the better. Physics and science are also very useful," says Jennifer Giesler of the American Geophysical Union.
