Insider Info

Additional Information

It's still possible at most financial institutions to start at the bottom and work your way up to a position in management, but it's becoming more rare. Most graduates who move directly into this area of banking have at least a bachelor's degree. Many have completed a master's in business administration (MBA) or have a CA (chartered accountant) designation.

But you don't necessarily need a banking degree to get into this job. University graduates with a degree unrelated to banking can usually move into commercial account management after a few years of banking experience.

But if you're interested in banking, a background in business or economics probably wouldn't hurt.
