Additional Information

Editor Jason Schreurs has an educational background in journalism, but that's not always the case in this field.

"I was a history major in college," explains magazine editor Nina Pearlman. "I've taught myself everything I know through my various jobs. I'm certainly much better now than when I started!"

But if you're starting from scratch and want to become an editor, it's a wise idea to pursue an education in journalism to help get the overall skills that you won't get just writing. Many colleges and universities offer courses and programs in journalism.
