Ethnobotanists require a good background in botany, as well as in anthropology or ethnology. They usually have a master's degree or PhD.

A master's degree is enough for a person whose major is in biology or botany and whose minor is in anthropology or archeology. A doctorate is usually required for a person who majored in anthropology or archeology.
