Additional Information

Many brokers have master's degrees in library science. Others may have law, science or business degrees. Still others are journalists or have liberal arts backgrounds.

A librarian may not have the right skills to conduct an information search on a complex topic. A pharmaceutical firm needing a search about drugs may hire an information broker with a PhD in chemistry to perform the job.

To enter a graduate program in library science, you'll first need a bachelor's degree. Any kind of liberal arts degree is appropriate.

Graduate programs include courses in the foundations of library and information science, the history of books and printing, and intellectual freedom and censorship.
