Real-Life Math

You've just finished fixing a furnace. It's time to figure out how much to charge your customer. You replaced 2 parts: a gas valve and a thermocouple. The job took an hour and a half of labor.

The gas valve costs $127. The thermocouple, which is a safety that shuts off the gas valve if the pilot ever goes out, costs $19.65.

Your hourly rate is $50. Also, you have to add 7 percent tax to the invoice.

How much does the customer owe?
