Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide to say nothing about the road and hope that nothing happens.

"There was a great amount of political pressure to say nothing about the road and hope for the best," says Ken Simonar, a geological engineer who found himself in a similar situation. However, due to warm conditions and a great deal of rain -- and much to your dismay -- the road slumps and begins to wash away.

"It was a horrible disaster to have the road falling away," says Simonar. "With extensive testing it was shown that the road was built on the site of an old slide." Now the university must spend millions of dollars trying to repair the damage, and to build a new road. Your problems in recommending this road construction have only just begun.
