Real-Life Math -- Solution

Convert the fraction of three-quarters to a decimal. That equals 0.75.

Take that decimal and multiply it by 60 to see how many gallons of gas you've got.

0.75 x 16 = 12 gallons of gas

Multiply the quantity of gas by how many miles per gallon your car gets.

21 miles per gallon x 12 gallons = 252 miles

Your car will go 252 miles before you'll run out of gas.

You better stop and fill 'er up.
