Real-Life Communication -- Solution

Here's what your letter could say:

Dear Mr. Bosch,

My name is Joe Blow. I am a location manager. I sell locations to Hollywood film crews because they bring money into the area.

I told a mutual friend of ours, Ted Dawson, that I was looking for a spot to film the new Julia Roberts film. He mentioned how glorious your property is. We need an immense backyard that sits on a lake or river. Your property fits the bill.

You may be hesitant about letting a film crew in your house and backyard. I understand completely. There will be about 150 people in your backyard. However, you will be reimbursed handsomely (the rate being suggested is $5,000 per day). Also, film crews are often so paranoid about doing something wrong with a property that we actually leave it in better condition.

If there was a minor scratch to a banister, the production company would have the whole banister repainted. Many other members of the community have allowed film crews on their property and have been pleased with the results. I have a list of referrals that you may contact.

I do hope I may call on you next week, if I don't hear something before then. You would be doing the community a big favor. You will also get the thrill of seeing your house on the big screen. I would also like to mention that if you, your wife or your children would like to be in the movie, we often have spots open for extras.

Kindest regards,
Joe Blow
