Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell your client that there is nothing more that you can do.

This is the real-life decision of Betty Victory, a customs broker. "You always have to go by the rules set out by customs," she says.

"There are rules to follow," she says. "You have to follow them carefully and be on top of any regulations that may change."

If you have diligently followed all of the procedures asked for by customs, and they have told you they will release the product once they have reviewed the material, there is little else you can do.

"It's a difficult thing, but sometimes you have to tell clients that your hands are tied," says Victory. "It's much better to do a proper job in the first place. There is often little you can do to speed up the process once a mistake has been made."
