Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

Hold the student back.

You're a dance teacher with a big dilemma. One of the students you've been teaching for three years has fallen behind. You've decided that, for her growth as a dancer, she should repeat the year and cement the basics.

Donna Moreau had to make a similar decision in real life. She's a dance instructor and president of a dance teachers' association. She held back a student to work on her strength and flexibility.

"We thought we were going to lose her but we had to make the choice that was the best one for the student. After discussing the situation with both the student and her parents, [the student] made the decision to continue. They respected our decision," says Moreau.

Moreau's decision paid off for everyone. The student is now back with her original group of peers and is stronger than a lot of the others in her class.
