Additional Information

Anyone serious about becoming a hypnotist should seek certification from a governing body such as the National Guild of Hypnotists. Because hypnosis isn't as regulated as other forms of therapy, finding a credible hypnotherapy school is very important.

"Get a sound general education, then study psychotherapy and hypnotherapy and keep on studying!" says Bryan Knight, author of Health and Happiness With Hypnosis.

For students interested in a career in forensic hypnosis, Paul Kincade offers this advice, "If a person obtains a degree in criminal justice, I'd certainly encourage them to learn hypnosis as an adjunct tool. That would make them more appealing as a prospective employee of a law enforcement agency."
