Real-Life Decision Making

You are a primate researcher who works in a sanctuary for chimpanzees. Although these chimps will never get to go back to their wilderness home, you do all you can to make their lives comfortable.

At the moment, you are feeding them a dinner of various fruits, seeds and leaves. You slide a dish through the enclosure to each of the chimpanzees. But you are disturbed when you see that one chimp is attempting to steal all the food.

"A dominant chimp can try and take over all of the food," says Deborah Fouts. She is a chimpanzee researcher.

You watch for a moment, hoping that the chimpanzees will sort out the problem, but see that they don't. If you entered the enclosure, you might be able to sort out the chimpanzees and their dishes.

"Chimpanzees are five times as strong as humans," says Fouts. All your fellow researchers have gone home for the evening, so they can't help you with the task.

What do you do?
