Real-Life Decision Making

You're an aerospace engineer for a helicopter manufacturer. You lead a team of aerospace engineers. You and your team are always looking for ways to improve the helicopters your company makes.

A member of your team, Mitch Hopper, approaches you one day. He has an idea for a design change for the helicopter motor. It has the potential to significantly reduce the amount of vibration and noise caused by helicopter engines.

However, it's not clear that the idea would work. Developing a prototype will require a lot of money for research and development. Helicopter sales have been down lately, so your company has less revenue than usual. If this idea doesn't pan out, the blame will fall on your shoulders.

What do you do?
