Additional Information

Mike Garrett is the contract harvest manager for a forestry company in Oregon. He says fallers in the U.S. are not required to have any specific educational level. They might be required to take first aid courses and various safety courses. In some areas, they might opt to take fire training as well.

Most fallers train on the job, or learn their skills from a relative or friend who does felling.

Useful high school subjects are English, physical education, first aid and mechanics.
