You are a glass blower who is looking to expand your business and make more money. For years, you have rented space at a small studio at the standard rate of $35 an hour -- which includes your glass.

You work an average of two 8-hour days a week at the studio. Now you want to open your own studio and rent space to other glass blowers.

The studio will cost $1,500 a month to rent. Your glass furnace will cost $5,000 or a monthly loan payment of $270. You estimate you'll spend $1,000 a month for fuel for the furnace and $350 a month for glass.

You know at least 2 glass blowers who are interested in renting space from you. How many hours a week will you have to rent the studio to the other glass blowers in order to cover your costs?

Based on a 40-hour workweek, will that leave you with more or less time in the studio than you are paying for now? What happens if just one of the other glass blowers rents space from you?
