Additional Information

A crime prevention specialist can be anyone who has an interest in reducing the crime rate in their community. However, while a degree is not currently required, crime prevention specialists who are active in the field say that one will be required in the future.

They suggest a degree in criminal justice, psychology or journalism. No matter what the degree, however, credits in criminal justice are required. Even those who are currently working in the field without a degree have had to return to college for criminal justice courses.
