Additional Information

Instructor Rob McKenzie suggests that you seek out unbiased opinions when choosing a good hang-gliding school. You should talk to a lot of local pilots.

"They have been around for a while and will have valid opinions on the school. There tends to be some amount of blind loyalty of a student to his instructor, so look for opinions from pilots that haven't trained with them but have watched them train for a while."

Hang-gliding pilots are rated from beginner to master. The number of flights, amount of time spent in the air and other qualifications determine one's rating.

Hang-gliding instructors must be certified by the United States Hang-Gliding Association (USHGA).
